Welcome to Bike Sense, The How-to Guide for Cycling in British Columbia!
Bike Sense has been in continuous publication since 2000; in addition to a free online version, to date over 130,000 copies of Bike Sense have been printed and distributed across British Columbia.
Bike Sense provides information about bike handling, traffic skills, and the rules of the road in BC, including condensed and paraphrased language from the BC Motor Vehicle Act. Bike Sense also provides safety advice not included in the law, and helpful information to all road users about why we cycle, who's cycling, and how bicycles are used.
Bike Sense 7th Edition
8th Edition Coming Soon!
It’s been almost five years since the publication of the 7th edition of Bike Sense—we’re now working on the 8th edition, expected to launch in October 2026 at the 4th Active Transportation Summit in Victoria!
Sponsorship from provincial, regional, and local governments and agencies, alongside private partners, donors and supporters from across B.C., will enable the BCCC to keep the publication free, and distribute printed copies to over 250 bike shops, education providers and sponsor locations, in cities and towns across BC, including those in low income and rural areas.
