Molly is the Regional Coordinator for Children’s Active Transportation at TransLink, where she works with partners across sectors and levels of government to advance child-friendly mobility and active transportation. She partners with local governments, schools, and community organizations to build the policy, funding, and program supports that make active and sustainable travel easier and more accessible for children and families. Her work involves initiatives such as the TravelSmart4Kids Strategy, the School Neighbourhood Activation Playbook, and programs such as the Walking School Bus and Bike Bus.

Since moving to Vancouver in 2000, Rose has been delighted to cycle the ever-growing number of bike routes throughout the region and southwest BC.  As HUB Cycling's Executive Director, Rose brings over 15 years of experience in experiential education and non-profit leadership.  After overseeing HUB's education programs, she is excited to build on HUB's remarkable progress in creating safer infrastructure, shaping effective policies, delivering creative programs, and fostering strong partnerships.

Maya is HUB Cycling’s first-ever Bike Bus Manager, joining the organization two years ago to build up the Bike Bus program and help schools, parents, and communities start and sustain their own Bike Buses. Motivated to change the empty bike racks at her children’s school, she launched a successful Bike Bus in April 2023 that still runs today. With over a decade of experience in bike education, Maya also founded Kids on Wheels, which introduces young children to the joy of cycling through balance bikes.  

Joanne has spent her career supporting children and families in a variety of ways including youth mentoring, employment, surviving family violence, community outreach and as a child and youth worker. Most recently at SCY she leads a team in implementing active travel initiatives for children and youth including walking school buses and School and Play Streets.

Aliya is the Education Manager at Capital Bike, where she oversees cycling education and active transportation programs for children, youth, and adults across the Capital Regional District. Her work includes overseeing school-based cycling education, Bike Bus programs, community and workplace education, instructor training, and the development of new programs and partnerships. Aliya is passionate about reducing barriers to cycling and creating practical, sustainable opportunities for children and families to make active transportation part of their everyday lives.

Ildi is the Child Friendly Community Planner at SCY currently leading the province-wide expansion of the Walking School Bus program. In her role at SCY, Ildi has developed, piloted and managed various children's active transportation and child and youth engagement initiatives. With a passion for environmental and social sustainability, Ildi advocates for children's rights to grow up in supportive, healthy and happy environments. Her work with young people integrates participatory planning methods with environmental education and sustainable community development.

Adam Krupper is the Manager of Active Transportation for the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit.  In this role, he oversees the ministry’s grant programs, education and encouragement programs, and updates to Ministry active transportation guidelines. He has an extensive background in active transportation, with over 20 years of experience working in municipal, charitable, and advocacy sectors, in both Ontario and British Columbia.

Now retired, Jeff is a former Vice President at Finning International, which brought Jeff to live and work across Canada, South America, and Europe. Jeff also led engineering teams at Westport Innovations. Jeff lives downtown and cycles locally, while also enjoying cycling trips abroad. He believes that cycling for transportation can best be increased by ensuring people have access to safe infrastructure, and that people feel safe when cycling. Action work to promote these goals is our most valuable contribution. This includes advocating for improvements at all levels of government, and celebrating our successes.

Jeff is co-chair of the Vancouver/UBC Committee at HUB, where he leads advocacy efforts including Assessment Rides and Reports. Jeff has been on HUB Cycling's Board of Directors since 2014, and has sat on the Operations Committee and Advocacy Committee, where he has worked hands-on to make operational improvements relating to Board Policies and Procedures, and worked on regional and provincial advocacy issues.

I founded Van Queer Climbers (VQC) and then built and grew non-profit programs to serve thousands of 2SLBGTQIA+ participants across the Lower Mainland. The work I’ve had the privilege of doing at VQC has led to real changes in the representation of, education of, and opportunities for 2SLBGTQIA+ people in climbing.

Most recently, I led Metro Vancouver’s Walking School Bus program at the Society for Children and Youth of BC. Before that I championed the equity programs at Mobi Bikes, including developing a fully subsidized bike share pass for high school students and free bike access for People With Disabilities.

My greatest passion in life is creating more equitable, diverse, accessible, and inclusive spaces for underrepresented groups within the cycling community.

Ashley (she/they) grew up in the Lower Mainland but now calls Vancouver Island home. She comes into this work with a background in mental health, including a BA in Psychology from the University of Victoria. In recent years they have worked as an educator, a support worker, a childcare provider, and a crisis intervention worker. At SCY, Ashley works as the Vancouver Island Walking School Bus Coordinator where she supports the walking school bus all while encouraging movement in the form of play, building community, and promoting active lifestyles.

Brian is a Principal and Senior Transportation Planner with Urban Systems. Brian is a nationally recognized expert in active transportation and has worked with communities of all sizes across Canada over more than twenty years. Brian led the award-winning 2019 BC Active Transportation Design Guide as well as the 2026 update.

Xuedan manages the National Active School Streets Initiative, working alongside project partners and community actors to plan, implement, and monitor the delivery of School Streets across the country. She has been with Green Communities Canada for 4 years, having supported the delivery of various projects, including School Travel Planning, the National School Travel Data Collection Pilot, and annual active transportation encouragement events.

Cedric Eveleigh is the lead engineer at Bike Lane Sweeper on the Sunshine Coast, a company that builds a compact, bike-towed sweeper that advocacy groups, contractors, and municipalities use to keep their bike lanes clear of debris. Around 50 sweepers are now at work across North America and Europe. Off the shop floor, Cedric serves on the board of Transportation Choices Sunshine Coast (TraC), pushing for better cycling infrastructure in his community, and he started Safe Cycling Sunshine Coast, a crowdfunded initiative that pays local operators to sweep the Sunshine Coast's bike lanes and highway shoulders.

Venkatesh Gopal leads movmi, a firm focused on the behavioural change approach to sustainable mobility, working with cities and organizations worldwide on shared micromobility, developer TDM policy, and mobility hubs that bring active transportation, transit and shared mobility services together at the places people live, work, play, and learn. He holds a certificate in behavioural economics and lives it out personally! He and his family live car-free, relying entirely on cycling, walking, transit, and shared mobility to get around.

Sam Holland is a local transit advocate and community organizer. His work has involved developing a bike valet service in the CRD, as well as a province-wide granting program. He is the founding Chair of Better Transit YYJ which organizes for more and better transit in the Capital Region.

Brooke Jones is a teacher who has spent the past 10 years working in rural and remote communities across BC, with a strong passion for outdoor & physical education and community engagement. She is also a board member of the Nelson Cycling Club and a coordinator and instructor with SheRides, the club’s women’s division. Brooke has been hired as the Project Manager for Nelson & Area Community Transportation to develop and implement the group’s cycling education strategy.

Andrew Murray is a retired family physician and a lifelong hiker and cyclist. He works towards improving conditions for cycling and walking and transit within Nelson and to and from the nearby regional district residential areas. He strongly supports actions which allow all to achieve more of the many health benefits of active transportation including personal, physical, social, community, emotional as well as local and global environmental.

Margie Sanderson (she/her) is the Director of Organizing at Vision Zero Vancouver, a grassroots advocacy non-profit dedicated to eliminating fatalities and serious injuries on Metro Vancouver roads by holding governments to account, advocating for evidence-based solutions, and building and demonstrating public support for road safety. With a background in children’s rights, she has played an integral role in the development and expansion of several school active travel programs in the province, including Play Streets, School Streets, and the Walking School Bus. Though she lives in one of the 'greenest cities' in North America there is no sidewalk on the street between her home and the local elementary school, no bike facilities on the closest arterial, and a bus stop facing service reductions. Hailing from a lineage of activists and direct action organizers, she is a strong believer in the role of advocacy to force governments to act.

Colin grew up in Toronto and came to British Columbia in 1995 without a job, a plan, or a professional designation. He found himself working with the Vancouver Canucks in Grizzlies, and spent the next two decades in marketing leadership roles in the insurance, economic development and tech sectors. In 2013, joined Vancouver’s HUB Cycling as Director of Marketing, Communications and Campaigns, and has spent much of the last decade working with BC-based non-profits in management and consulting roles. In 2019, he joined the Board of the BC Cycling Coalition and subsequently served as Executive Director during COVID-19. Following a book-writing sabbatical, Colin returned to the BCCC in November 2025.

Ashley Wright is a proud member of the K’ómoks First Nation. She grew up in the Comox Valley, and after attending Vancouver Island University and UBC Sauder School of Business, she spent 7 years working for financial institutions in a multitude of roles from customer service, investing, secured and unsecured lending, and management. Since 2014, Ashley has worked in various capacities for the K’ómoks First Nation, including in Economic Development and Self-Government/Treaty. As an independent contractor since 2018, Ashley has worked with several Nations, agencies, and institutions across BC on change management, capacity planning, project management, community and strategic planning, and engagement. In her downtime, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family, including camping, connecting with the land, and exploring all the beauty that Vancouver Island has to offer.

I am Mo Bot, a Project Manager at the City of North Vancouver, tasked with design and delivery of active and sustainable mobility infrastructure. Over my career I’ve worked across the sustainable transportation space from long range policy work to detailed design and construction - from multi-billion dollar transit infrastructure projects to small but mighty sidewalks and curb ramps. As a planner operating in engineering dominated spaces, I am always working to ensure that policy objectives and community vision are not lost or watered down as projects move from idea to implementation.

Aman Chandi (M.Urb) is a social planner and creative generalist. A self-described “human swiss army knife” her toolkit spans planning, research, design, engagement and writing. Across a decade of work in government, non-profits, cooperatives, consulting and academia, she has aimed to genuinely advance the work of more just cities. As Director of Programs and Fundraising at Movement: Metro Vancouver Transit Riders, Aman leads with a collaborative, systems-minded approach to grow the organization’s reach and capacity. As a co-founder of Mela, she works to widen the circle of who gets to shape our cities and whose stories define them. Her practice is anchored in a belief that cities should make freedom tangible, where everyone can move safely, express who they are, access opportunities, and trust that civic decisions are made with their dignity and agency in mind.

Dr. Kelly J. Clifton is a Professor and the J. Armand Bombardier Chair of Regional Transportation Planning in the School of Community and Regional Planning at UBC. Her research and teaching focus on planning for active transportation, travel behaviour and the environment, and links between transportation and health and wellbeing. She also leads an interdisciplinary research cluster at UBC called Rethinking the Right-of-Way, which aims to support the transformation of streets and public space into more sustainable, equitable, and healthful places. 

Dora is a Transportation Planner with the District of Squamish, where she leads initiatives aimed at improving transportation options for residents, businesses, and visitors. Her current focus areas include traffic calming, road safety enhancements, transit planning, and policy and bylaw development. Working within a small and rapidly growing community, she balances competing priorities and limited resources by identifying innovative, practical solutions that align with community needs and Council priorities.

Laura Jane is the Executive Director of BEST Mobility, a non-profit organization dedicated to making healthy and sustainable transportation part of everyday life across BC. Laura has been a champion for active transportation for the past 13 years. She previously worked for seven years with HUB Cycling, including as Executive Director, and launched numerous new cycling initiatives in Metro Vancouver including Bike the Night, Bike to Shop Days and the Bike Awards. Laura also spent four years leading sustainable transportation programs for the City of Vancouver, launching a variety of new initiatives, including the City's first School Streets program. Across the non-profit and public sectors Laura has built partnerships, driven advocacy campaigns, and delivered practical programs to improve walking and cycling. She has two young daughters.

Ross Kenny is the Assistant Director of Engineering at the City of Victoria, where he leads the Transportation Department and oversees programs that improve safety, mobility, and accessibility for residents. Since joining Victoria in 2018, he has guided the expansion of the city's cycling and walking infrastructure, advanced road safety initiatives that have contributed to significant reductions in traffic injuries and fatalities and has reversed decades of underinvestment in transportation infrastructure. Prior to Victoria, Ross served as a Senior Transportation Design Engineer with the City of Vancouver, where he helped deliver major transportation initiatives, including North America's first protected intersections at the Burrard Street Bridge. With nearly 2 decades of experience in urban transportation engineering, Ross is passionate about building safer, healthier, and more sustainable communities for current and future generations.

Sam Khany a Senior Planner with City of Vancouver’s Public Space and Street Use team. He has 15 years of experience in urban design and planning , in private, public and nonprofit sectors dealing with various areas of planning, including neighbourhood planning, mobility and public space projects. At his current role at the City, he is the senior lead for public realm policy and capital projects on retail streets including the City’s Pedestrian Zone program on Water Street and Granville Street.

Dr. Becca Mayers is a transportation planner and researcher dedicated to creating more connected, equitable, and accessible communities. At TransLink, she leads regional active transportation initiatives that leverage data, evidence-based engagement, and an equity lens to expand mobility options and improve access to jobs, services, transit, and community destinations across Metro Vancouver. Her work bridges research, policy, and practice, using both quantitative evidence and community knowledge to inform transportation planning and decision-making. As host of the award-winning Dense City podcast, she translates planning research for practitioners and the public, helping bridge the gap between academic evidence and real-world decision-making.

I am Oluwapelumi Ogeroju, Project Director at the Ministry of Transportation and Transit and an MBA in Sustainable Innovation student at the University of Victoria. During the daytime, I work at the intersection of three priorities: embedding walking, cycling and accessibility considerations into major multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects, federal infrastructure programs and shaping how capital priorities move through various budget processes. In the evening, I think about and study innovative ways to build generational, regenerative businesses to promote the economic prosperity of all Canadians.

Andrew Picard, RPP MCIP, is a Senior Planner at TransLink. He works with governments at the local, regional, and provincial level, as well as organizations in the non-profit and private sectors to plan, design, and fund walking, cycling, and rolling throughout Metro Vancouver.

Jason wrote his master’s thesis, Urban Bicycle Transportation over 20 years ago, beginning a career-long focus on active transportation and sustainable mobility. He has over 21 years of experience with Bunt & Associates Engineering in Vancouver and Victoria, where he is a Senior Transportation Planner, Associate and Project Manager. Jason has managed various Active Transportation Plan and Transportation Master Plans projects and brings an active transportation perspective to all his public-sector and private-sector projects. An avid runner and cyclist, Jason believes that well-designed transportation systems can create positive change – not only in our communities, but also within ourselves.

Sophie is a Transportation Engineer at Bunt & Associates with over five years of experience in transportation planning and engineering, focused on supporting sustainable growth and creating more connected communities. Her work spans regional and local active transportation plans, transportation master plans, and large-scale developments, alongside policy development and more targeted studies in traffic calming, road safety, and transportation demand management. Through these projects, she has developed an appreciation for how design decisions, policy frameworks, and local priorities shape the delivery of transportation improvements. This experience informs her interest in bridging the gap between active transportation planning and implementation, helping communities translate ambitious network visions into practical on the ground improvements.

Ian Roth is a Transportation Engineer with Urban Systems in Victoria. Over the past 15 years, he has been a thinking partner with local governments, indigenous communities, and provincial agencies across BC to help deliver active transportation and mobility projects that make it easier and safer for people to move through their communities. When he's not working on transportation projects, Ian is actively involved in mentoring emerging professionals, volunteering with industry initiatives such as ITE Canada, and planning the next travel adventure with his partner.

Ricardo has 18 years experience in both the private and public sectors with the last four years focused on owner’s representative project management. He has worked in municipalities as Manager of Engineering and Public Works and Land Developer Engineer. In the private sector, he has carried out design, contract administration and field reviewing roles for capital and land development projects. In recent years, Ricardo has developed a well-rounded skillset that spans owner’s project management for municipalities including the recent Galloping Goose Pedestrian  Bridge over the Island Highway in Colwood, civil engineering designs, and comprehensive contract administration. 

Thomas Bevan is CEO of the Island Corridor Foundation (ICF), a federally registered charity that owns and stewards the former E&N rail corridor on Vancouver Island. A Registered Professional Planner, Thomas holds a Master’s degree in Planning from UBC and a Bachelor of Commerce in Real Estate from the University of Guelph. His career spans urban planning, affordable housing, and transit-oriented development. At ICF, Thomas works with First Nations, local governments, and communities to unlock the potential of the Island Corridor as a transportation and community asset, including advancing opportunities for rails-with-trails. Thomas is passionate about creating connected, accessible, and sustainable communities and maximizing the potential of transportation corridors to support how people move and live. He has bike toured from Calgary to San Francisco and Victoria to Campbell River, but didn't bike back!

Colleen Dupont is the Director of Economic Development for Esquimalt Nation, where she leads the Nation’s economic development initiatives and works to advance community priorities through strategic planning, land development, business development, and partnerships. Her role includes identifying and developing new economic opportunities, building relationships with government and industry, and working with regional partners to ensure economic and planning initiatives reflect Esquimalt Nation’s goals and values.

Colleen holds a Master of Resource Management and Community Planning from Simon Fraser University and a BSc in Geography from the University of Victoria.

Dr. Jaimy Fischer is a Michif (Red River Métis) health geographer, educator, and knowledge mobilizer. She holds a PhD in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University (SFU) and is currently SFU Library’s Empowering Indigenous Pathways Visiting Scholar. Her community-engaged research focuses on Indigenous mobility justice, healthy cities, sustainable and active transportation, and the use of GIScience and spatial research to advance equity in planning, policy, and population health. She is passionate about dismantling colonial structures within institutions and brings Indigenous methodologies, implementation science, and creative approaches to knowledge mobilization to research partnerships grounded in Indigenous self-determination, land-based learning, and community priorities. 

Yuval Fogelson is an urbanist, founder of YF City Urbanism in Vancouver. He works at the intersection between city design, public space transformations, and mobility networks, focusing on what makes walking and cycling work in the first and last mile surrounding transit. His practice spans urban design, planning and transportation, with projects in mobility hub networks, curbside management, and tactical urbanism. He has lived and worked across five continents. In addition, he is an educator, writes about urban transformations, and paints maps.

Starting her career in Spain, Isabel has spent over a decade working to create places where everyone can move with dignity, from local beaches to major airports. She advises on how walking and rolling enrich public spaces, strengthen community ties, and support physical and mental health. Isabel embeds people‑first values into projects, building trust through a communication style that is both warm and grounded. Previously, she led Living Streets in Metro Vancouver.

Lacey is passionate about helping Canadians choose safe and sustainable transportation for their day-to-day trips. Since 2009, she has developed transportation plans, designed protected bicycle lanes, and overseen traffic safety initiatives. Lacey enjoys collaborating with and learning from peers across the globe with highlights being NACTO’s City Limits and Global Designing Cities’ Designing for Safe Speeds. She currently supports the City of New Westminster’s passenger ferry service (the Q to Q Ferry), build-out of the Active Transportation Network, and Vision Zero Task Force.

Colleen MacDonald is an author, cycling advocate and creator of the Let’s Go Biking guidebook series. A director with the BC Cycling Coalition, she leads its Cycle Tourism Team, collaborating with partners including BC Cycle Tourism Society to help build a connected, welcoming cycle tourism network across British Columbia.

Dean Murdock is the outgoing Mayor of Saanich. He was elected Saanich Mayor in November 2022 and concludes his term at the end of this month. He chose not to seek re-election in the recent municipal election. Prior to becoming Mayor, Dean served three terms on Saanich Council. He worked for the Provincial Government at the Ministries of Health and Transportation and Infrastructure and was an instructor of political science at Camosun College. He grew up in Saanich, attended high school at Claremont Secondary and graduated from the University of Victoria. Dean lives in Saanich with his wife, Rachel, two children. Dean is a coffee-drinker, guitar-player, and cyclist.

Sandra is CEO of Modo Co-operative and founder of movmi, focused on designing mobility systems that integrate bikeshare, active transportation, carshare, and public transit into one seamless network.

At Modo, she is leading the co-operative’s evolution beyond carsharing into a multimodal platform—connecting shared vehicles with walking, cycling, and transit at the neighbourhood level. Her work centres on how these modes function together in real life, ensuring people can move fluidly between them without defaulting to private car ownership.

Sandra has advised cities and transit agencies globally on integrating bikeshare and shared mobility with public transit systems—from TransLink initiatives like the Shared Mobility Compass Card and RideLink to Transport for London’s regional approach to bikeshare and micromobility integration.

She is also a Director at Large with Connect the Coast, where she advocates for a AAA cycling highway on the Sunshine Coast—advancing safe, connected infrastructure that supports active transportation in smaller and underserved communities.

Her work has been recognized with the Clean50 Award, the BCBusiness Change Maker Award, and the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award.

Heather Piwowar is the Founding Director of the BC Cycle Tourism Society, a new provincial organization helping BC realize its potential as a world-class cycle touring destination. Heather is a Vancouver-based cyclist with 25 years of touring experience, and a tour leader with the Adventure Cycling Association. She previously co-founded OurResearch, a nonprofit whose open research tools are used by millions of people. Ask her about bike sandals :)

David Slade is a retired business owner, a small time farmer, a climate and sustainability activist and a grandfather.  David was born and raised in the Cowichan Valley on Southern Vancouver Island where he still lives in a custom designed Cobble Hill home that is fully solar powered. David volunteers as an officer for multiple boards and societies, including treasurer of the Cowichan Watershed Board and Vice President of Friends of Rails to Trails Vancouver Island.

For a dozen years, David cycled the 15 km from his home to the company HQ in Duncan, mostly on the narrow shoulder of the Trans Canada Hwy, which he described as a "near death experience".  While riding within sight of the derelict E and N railroad, the thought often occurred: that an unused rail bed could make an excellent commuter trail and so, he began trying to build enthusiasm for the idea.  Before long, David became aware of fortvi.ca and immediately joined those working to advance the idea of a world class active transportation corridor on the nearly 300km line that joins Victoria to Courtenay and Parksville to Port Alberni.  After 15 years of decay and neglect, David believes the time is right for a new vision and new life for this corridor.

Stephanie is a Transportation Planner with the City of Victoria. She started as a Transportation Outreach Coordinator over five years ago, working across the department to communicate the City’s transportation projects, policies and priorities. Since then, she has led the approval of emerging transportation modes and services and developed many popular programs, including the Downtown Victoria Bike Valet, Request a Bike Rack and most recently, city-wide bike share. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Geography from SFU and a Masters in Community Development from UVIC.

Nick Armstrong is the Supervisor of Transportation Operations for the City of Victoria. He leads and supports transportation data collection and traffic signal modernization programs, with a focus on improving roadway safety, operations, and mobility. His work includes deploying emerging technologies, analyzing transportation data, and advancing smart traffic signal systems to support a safer and more efficient transportation network.

Christian Brandt has been working in the shared mobility sector for the past 15 years. He began by founding a carshare co-operative in the Okanagan, which later merged with Modo Carshare Co-op. In his current role, Christian leads Modo's electrification initiatives and is spearheading the launch of Modo's first e-cargo bike share pilot at Sen̓áḵw.

Jay Douillard is a Senior Transportation Planner with the Capital Regional District in Victoria BC. His work focuses on building regional collaboration and using evidence-based planning to improve mobility.

Yuval Fogelson is an urbanist, founder of YF City Urbanism in Vancouver. He works at the intersection between city design, public space transformations, and mobility networks, focusing on what makes walking and cycling work in the first and last mile surrounding transit. His practice spans urban design, planning and transportation, with projects in mobility hub networks, curbside management, and tactical urbanism. He has lived and worked across five continents. In addition, he is an educator, writes about urban transformations, and paints maps.

Venkatesh Gopal leads movmi, a firm focused on the behavioural change approach to sustainable mobility, working with cities and organizations worldwide on shared micromobility, developer TDM policy, and mobility hubs that bring active transportation, transit and shared mobility services together at the places people live, work, play, and learn. He holds a certificate in behavioural economics and lives it out personally! He and his family live car-free, relying entirely on cycling, walking, transit, and shared mobility to get around.

Dave is a Victoria City Councillor, and Director on the Boards of the Capital Regional District, the Capital Region Housing Corporation, and the Capital Regional Hospital District. Dave uses the full range of Victoria’s transportation hierarchy as a pedestrian, a cyclist, a transit user and a car owner. He owns a small business and specializes in organizational governance and public policy research. Dave has practised law in Ontario and BC, worked for government and non-profits and co-founded a firm that serves Indigenous communities across Canada. Dave is a community volunteer and has served on the boards of directors of several charities and non-profits and a couple of businesses. Prior to his election to City Council, he was Director, Treasurer and Vice President of the Fairfield Gonzales Community Association, a member of its Community Association Land Use Committee (CALUC) and Chair of its Neighbourhood Improvement Committee.

Alastair is President of the Friends of Rails to Trails - Vancouver Island Society. He was formerly Member of the Victoria Advisory Planning Commission, Councillor in the City of Victoria, Chair of Environment and Planning Advisory Committees, CRD Director, Director of the Victoria Water District, and BC Regional Transit Director for Victoria.

Scott MacDonald is a Sustainable Transportation Planner based in Squamish, BC. He is passionate about learning from international planning and design practices—particularly those from the Netherlands—and exploring how they can be adapted to projects across Western Canada. His curiosity provides insight into how communities can most effectively advance goals related to sustainable mode shift, vision zero, and sustainability.

Douglas McLeod is the Director of Transportation for the City of Coquitlam. He has over 20 years of experience leading teams of technologists, planners and engineers. He is a Transit Nerd, an avid e-biker, and considers himself a "Planginner" due to his love of the integration of land use and transportation. His vision for transportation in cities is to be focused on people and to provide the freedom of safe, accessible and convenient options to go from anywhere to everywhere.

Adam Olsen (SȾHENEP) was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Saanich North and the Islands and member of the B.C. Green Caucus in 2017 and re-elected in 2020.

Adam has a deep love and respect for his home in the W̱SÁNEĆ territory. As an advocate and facilitator, he is committed to good relationships and improving public participation to strengthen all aspects of the community.

His 16-year career in elected public service began when he was elected Councillor in the District of Central Saanich (2008, 2011). Prior to that Adam worked for two decades in the service and communications sectors where he gained valuable experience in building relationships, connecting people, problems, ideas and solutions.

Born in Victoria, BC, Adam has lived, worked and played his entire life on the Saanich Peninsula. He is a member of Tsartlip First Nation (W̱JOȽEȽP), where he and his wife, Emily, are raising their two children, Silas and Ella.

Payvand Razaghizad is a Transportation Planner with the City of Coquitlam. Her work focuses on planning and delivering safer, more comfortable and connected active transportation networks that support people of all ages and abilities. Prior to joining the Transportation Planning team, she worked in the City’s Planning and Development Department, where she developed a multidisciplinary perspective on the connections between land use, urban design and transportation.

Farinaz brings an interdisciplinary background in urban planning and design and environmental gerontology, with a focus on the connections between the built environment, health, and social equity. With over eight years of professional experience, her work spans both academia and community-based practice, where she has led and contributed to projects focused on urban accessibility, aging in place, and inclusive mobility. 

Jake began as the Executive Director of Vancouver Cycling Without Age in June 2024, after years of working with other recreation-based charities including Right To Play and the Canucks Autism Network. He oversees the organization’s operations and strategic growth, including building partnerships and fundraising, as well as program development and staff and volunteer management. Jake has over 15 years of experience in community-based social impact in the nonprofit sector around the world, with a specific focus on recreation. He was inspired by his grandmother, Audrey, to join CWA Vancouver and is happiest on the trishaw chatting with seniors.

Tanelle Bolt is the founder of Bolt Access & Design Co., an accessibility consulting firm based in British Columbia, and the founder and leader of RAD Recreation Adapted Society, a Canadian charity dedicated to adaptive recreation equipment and education. Drawing on a background in trades and interior design, Tanelle brings a hands-on, practical lens to barrier free design — reviewing infrastructure projects (including multi-year trail widening work with regional engineering partners), advising developers, municipalities and other public agencies, and building community partnerships that put adaptive gear directly into people's hands. Through Bolt Access & Design Co. and RAD, she works at the intersection of the built environment and lived experience, helping organizations move beyond compliance toward indoor and outdoor spaces that people of all abilities can actually use.

Eric Doherty is a semi-retired transportation planning consultant who specializes in improving community accessibility, as well as reducing climate pollution. His experience includes multiple research reports on HandyDART (paratransit) and other forms of transportation for people with disabilities. His education includes a MA from the School of Community and Regional Planning at UBC, and he is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) and a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP). Lacey is passionate about helping Canadians choose safe and sustainable transportation for their day-to-day trips. Since 2009, she has developed transportation plans, designed protected bicycle lanes, and overseen traffic safety initiatives. Lacey enjoys collaborating with and learning from peers across the globe with highlights being NACTO’s City Limits and Global Designing Cities’ Designing for Safe Speeds. She currently supports the City of New Westminster’s passenger ferry service (the Q to Q Ferry), build-out of the Active Transportation Network, and Vision Zero Task Force.

Sandra is a Mexican immigrant who has lived in Victoria for over thirty years. Sandra is well known and respected in the community as she has been a volunteer, (in many community functions and nonprofit organizations) she is a parent and has been an accessibility advocate for many years.  Sandra became paralyzed in 2013 that drove the decision to become the Vice-chair of the Accessibility Committee and being an immigrant drove her to apply to be the Chair for the Welcoming City Committee from 2022 to 2026. Sandra also works for the City of Victoria as a Lived Experience Accessibility Consultant, an inclusion worker during the summer and for the rest of the year she works with the Greater Victoria School District as an Education Assistant.  Sandra uses a power wheelchair, and her husband uses a scooter due to his Cerebral Palsy. Being a parent, an educator and a highly active community volunteer means she is on the road a lot. Being dependent on a motorized wheelchair and using the sidewalks has made Sandra notice the hazards for anybody using any sort of motorized mobility vehicle. There is debris/garbage left by pedestrians and nature (branches). Not to mention pedestrians themselves, oblivious of their surroundings. Last, but by no means the least, the terrible shape
that so many sidewalks tend to be in. Using the bicycle lanes have proven to be safer, faster, easier. But the best thing about using the bicycle lanes is it allows me to take less pain medication. On the sidewalks her poor body felt like it was going to fall apart and so sore. Sandra knew that when her trip ended, she would have to take an extra dose of painkillers

Jeremy Loveday is Vice President, External Relations, Sustainable Development and First Nations Partnerships at Destination Greater Victoria, where he leads the organization’s sustainability and destination stewardship efforts.

Before joining DGV, Jeremy served on Victoria City Council from 2014 to 2022, where he helped lead the build-out of the city’s cycling network. He holds an MBA with Distinction in Innovation, Enterprise, and the Circular Economy.

Tommy Leung is Manager, Advocacy and Stakeholder Operations with CNIB in BC and Yukon. As a person who is blind and a guide dog handler, Tommy brings lived experience navigating public spaces, active transportation infrastructure, and public transit. He facilitates CNIB’s provincial advocacy committee and works with people with sight loss, municipalities, transportation agencies, planners, and engineers to identify accessibility barriers and develop practical solutions. Tommy serves on several accessibility and advisory committees and brings a collaborative perspective that connects lived experience with professional expertise to help create transportation infrastructure and public spaces that are safe, accessible, and inclusive for everyone.

Grant Ngieng, P.Eng., is a Partner and Manager of Municipal Transportation with ISL Engineering. With nearly 20 years of experience, Grant specializes in active transportation, complete streets, and multimodal corridor design. His work has included protected cycling facilities, transit improvements, and complex urban designs that balance the needs of cyclists, pedestrians, transit users, and motorists. Grant served as the Engineer of Record for the East Sixth Avenue project.

Gail’s career has spanned all aspects of urban and rural community economic development practices within the private and public sectors throughout British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan over the past 30+ years. She has held the position of Community Economic Development Officer with the District of Sooke on Vancouver Island since 2022 following her fourth attempt to retire. Gail specializes in Destination Marketing Development in support of responsible, respectful, and regenerative tourism and visitor economy planning and strategizing in addition to collaborating with a broad range of network partnerships that address local and regional economic development services gaps focused on entrepreneurial business supports, business opportunity identification, investment attraction, and community organizational sustainability through recovery and resiliency practices.

His work includes developing Vancouver’s All Ages and Abilities Cycling Guidelines, advancing micromobility policy, active transportation network & corridor planning as well as overseeing Vancouver’s Active Travel Summer Count Program. He and his family live car-free in Vancouver and get around via walking, cycling, and transit.
