Molly is the Regional Coordinator for Children’s Active Transportation at TransLink, where she works with partners across sectors and levels of government to advance child-friendly mobility and active transportation. She partners with local governments, schools, and community organizations to build the policy, funding, and program supports that make active and sustainable travel easier and more accessible for children and families. Her work involves initiatives such as the TravelSmart4Kids Strategy, the School Neighbourhood Activation Playbook, and programs such as the Walking School Bus and Bike Bus.

Cedric Eveleigh is the lead engineer at Bike Lane Sweeper on the Sunshine Coast, a company that builds a compact, bike-towed sweeper that advocacy groups, contractors, and municipalities use to keep their bike lanes clear of debris. Around 50 sweepers are now at work across North America and Europe. Off the shop floor, Cedric serves on the board of Transportation Choices Sunshine Coast (TraC), pushing for better cycling infrastructure in his community, and he started Safe Cycling Sunshine Coast, a crowdfunded initiative that pays local operators to sweep the Sunshine Coast's bike lanes and highway shoulders.

Since moving to Vancouver in 2000, Rose has been delighted to cycle the ever-growing number of bike routes throughout the region and southwest BC.  As HUB Cycling's Executive Director, Rose brings over 15 years of experience in experiential education and non-profit leadership.  After overseeing HUB's education programs, she is excited to build on HUB's remarkable progress in creating safer infrastructure, shaping effective policies, delivering creative programs, and fostering strong partnerships.

Maya is HUB Cycling’s first-ever Bike Bus Manager, joining the organization two years ago to build up the Bike Bus program and help schools, parents, and communities start and sustain their own Bike Buses. Motivated to change the empty bike racks at her children’s school, she launched a successful Bike Bus in April 2023 that still runs today. With over a decade of experience in bike education, Maya also founded Kids on Wheels, which introduces young children to the joy of cycling through balance bikes.  

Venkatesh Gopal leads movmi, a firm focused on the behavioural change approach to sustainable mobility, working with cities and organizations worldwide on shared micromobility, developer TDM policy, and mobility hubs that bring active transportation, transit and shared mobility services together at the places people live, work, play, and learn. He holds a certificate in behavioural economics and lives it out personally! He and his family live car-free, relying entirely on cycling, walking, transit, and shared mobility to get around.

Brooke Jones is a teacher who has spent the past 10 years working in rural and remote communities across BC, with a strong passion for outdoor & physical education and community engagement. She is also a board member of the Nelson Cycling Club and a coordinator and instructor with SheRides, the club’s women’s division. Brooke has been hired as the Project Manager for Nelson & Area Community Transportation to develop and implement the group’s cycling education strategy.

Joanne has spent her career supporting children and families in a variety of ways including youth mentoring, employment, surviving family violence, community outreach and as a child and youth worker. Most recently at SCY she leads a team in implementing active travel initiatives for children and youth including walking school buses and School and Play Streets.

Aliya is the Education Manager at Capital Bike, where she oversees cycling education and active transportation programs for children, youth, and adults across the Capital Regional District. Her work includes overseeing school-based cycling education, Bike Bus programs, community and workplace education, instructor training, and the development of new programs and partnerships. Aliya is passionate about reducing barriers to cycling and creating practical, sustainable opportunities for children and families to make active transportation part of their everyday lives.

Ildi is the Child Friendly Community Planner at SCY currently leading the province-wide expansion of the Walking School Bus program. In her role at SCY, Ildi has developed, piloted and managed various children's active transportation and child and youth engagement initiatives. With a passion for environmental and social sustainability, Ildi advocates for children's rights to grow up in supportive, healthy and happy environments. Her work with young people integrates participatory planning methods with environmental education and sustainable community development.

Andrew Murray is a retired family physician and a lifelong hiker and cyclist. He works towards improving conditions for cycling and walking and transit within Nelson and to and from the nearby regional district residential areas. He strongly supports actions which allow all to achieve more of the many health benefits of active transportation including personal, physical, social, community, emotional as well as local and global environmental.

Ashley (she/they) grew up in the Lower Mainland but now calls Vancouver Island home. She comes into this work with a background in mental health, including a BA in Psychology from the University of Victoria. In recent years they have worked as an educator, a support worker, a childcare provider, and a crisis intervention worker. At SCY, Ashley works as the Vancouver Island Walking School Bus Coordinator where she supports the walking school bus all while encouraging movement in the form of play, building community, and promoting active lifestyles.

Colin grew up in Toronto and came to British Columbia in 1995 without a job, a plan, or a professional designation. He found himself working with the Vancouver Canucks in Grizzlies, and spent the next two decades in marketing leadership roles in the insurance, economic development and tech sectors. In 2013, joined Vancouver’s HUB Cycling as Director of Marketing, Communications and Campaigns, and has spent much of the last decade working with BC-based non-profits in management and consulting roles. In 2019, he joined the Board of the BC Cycling Coalition and subsequently served as Executive Director during COVID-19. Following a book-writing sabbatical, Colin returned to the BCCC in November 2025.

Ashley Wright is a proud member of the K’ómoks First Nation. She grew up in the Comox Valley, and after attending Vancouver Island University and UBC Sauder School of Business, she spent 7 years working for financial institutions in a multitude of roles from customer service, investing, secured and unsecured lending, and management. Since 2014, Ashley has worked in various capacities for the K’ómoks First Nation, including in Economic Development and Self-Government/Treaty. As an independent contractor since 2018, Ashley has worked with several Nations, agencies, and institutions across BC on change management, capacity planning, project management, community and strategic planning, and engagement. In her downtime, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family, including camping, connecting with the land, and exploring all the beauty that Vancouver Island has to offer.

Xuedan manages the National Active School Streets Initiative, working alongside project partners and community actors to plan, implement, and monitor the delivery of School Streets across the country. She has been with Green Communities Canada for 4 years, having supported the delivery of various projects, including School Travel Planning, the National School Travel Data Collection Pilot, and annual active transportation encouragement events.

Samir Ajanovic is a Transportation Planner with Arcadis based in Vancouver, BC. Originally from the Netherlands, Samir brings a Dutch perspective on mobility and active transportation to projects across Canada. Samir works with municipalities and agencies on active transportation and broader transportation planning projects, helping shape safer, more connected, and sustainable communities. Samir has experience in network planning, transit-oriented development and multimodal transportation solutions, with a focus on delivering practical improvements that support walking, cycling, and accessible mobility while incorporating the practical, people-focused approach often associated with Dutch transportation planning.

Thomas Bevan is CEO of the Island Corridor Foundation (ICF), a federally registered charity that owns and stewards the former E&N rail corridor on Vancouver Island. A Registered Professional Planner, Thomas holds a Master’s degree in Planning from UBC and a Bachelor of Commerce in Real Estate from the University of Guelph. His career spans urban planning, affordable housing, and transit-oriented development. At ICF, Thomas works with First Nations, local governments, and communities to unlock the potential of the Island Corridor as a transportation and community asset, including advancing opportunities for rails-with-trails. Thomas is passionate about creating connected, accessible, and sustainable communities and maximizing the potential of transportation corridors to support how people move and live. He has bike toured from Calgary to San Francisco and Victoria to Campbell River, but didn't bike back! 

Aman Chandi (M.Urb) is a social planner and creative generalist. A self-described “human swiss army knife” her toolkit spans planning, research, design, engagement and writing. Across a decade of work in government, non-profits, cooperatives, consulting and academia, she has aimed to genuinely advance the work of more just cities. As Director of Programs and Fundraising at Movement: Metro Vancouver Transit Riders, Aman leads with a collaborative, systems-minded approach to grow the organization’s reach and capacity. As a co-founder of Mela, she works to widen the circle of who gets to shape our cities and whose stories define them. Her practice is anchored in a belief that cities should make freedom tangible, where everyone can move safely, express who they are, access opportunities, and trust that civic decisions are made with their dignity and agency in mind.

Dr. Kelly J. Clifton is a Professor and the J. Armand Bombardier Chair of Regional Transportation Planning in the School of Community and Regional Planning at UBC. Her research and teaching focus on planning for active transportation, travel behaviour and the environment, and links between transportation and health and wellbeing. She also leads an interdisciplinary research cluster at UBC called Rethinking the Right-of-Way, which aims to support the transformation of streets and public space into more sustainable, equitable, and healthful places. 

Dr. Jaimy Fischer is a Michif (Red River Métis) health geographer, educator, and knowledge mobilizer. She holds a PhD in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University (SFU) and is currently SFU Library’s Empowering Indigenous Pathways Visiting Scholar. Her community-engaged research focuses on Indigenous mobility justice, healthy cities, sustainable and active transportation, and the use of GIScience and spatial research to advance equity in planning, policy, and population health. She is passionate about dismantling colonial structures within institutions and brings Indigenous methodologies, implementation science, and creative approaches to knowledge mobilization to research partnerships grounded in Indigenous self-determination, land-based learning, and community priorities. 

Laura Jane is the Executive Director of BEST Mobility, a non-profit organization dedicated to making healthy and sustainable transportation part of everyday life across BC. Laura has been a champion for active transportation for the past 13 years. She previously worked for seven years with HUB Cycling, including as Executive Director, and launched numerous new cycling initiatives in Metro Vancouver including Bike the Night, Bike to Shop Days and the Bike Awards. Laura also spent four years leading sustainable transportation programs for the City of Vancouver, launching a variety of new initiatives, including the City's first School Streets program. Across the non-profit and public sectors Laura has built partnerships, driven advocacy campaigns, and delivered practical programs to improve walking and cycling. She has two young daughters.

Ross Kenny is the Assistant Director of Engineering at the City of Victoria, where he leads the Transportation Department and oversees programs that improve safety, mobility, and accessibility for residents. Since joining Victoria in 2018, he has guided the expansion of the city's cycling and walking infrastructure, advanced road safety initiatives that have contributed to significant reductions in traffic injuries and fatalities and has reversed decades of underinvestment in transportation infrastructure. Prior to Victoria, Ross served as a Senior Transportation Design Engineer with the City of Vancouver, where he helped deliver major transportation initiatives, including North America's first protected intersections at the Burrard Street Bridge. With nearly 2 decades of experience in urban transportation engineering, Ross is passionate about building safer, healthier, and more sustainable communities for current and future generations.

Sam Khany a Senior Planner with City of Vancouver’s Public Space and Street Use team. He has 15 years of experience in urban design and planning , in private, public and nonprofit sectors dealing with various areas of planning, including neighbourhood planning, mobility and public space projects. At his current role at the City, he is the senior lead for public realm policy and capital projects on retail streets including the City’s Pedestrian Zone program on Water Street and Granville Street.

Colleen MacDonald is an author, cycling advocate and creator of the Let’s Go Biking guidebook series. A director with the BC Cycling Coalition, she leads its Cycle Tourism Team, collaborating with partners including BC Cycle Tourism Society to help build a connected, welcoming cycle tourism network across British Columbia.

Adam Olsen (SȾHENEP) was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Saanich North and the Islands and member of the B.C. Green Caucus in 2017 and re-elected in 2020.

Adam has a deep love and respect for his home in the W̱SÁNEĆ territory. As an advocate and facilitator, he is committed to good relationships and improving public participation to strengthen all aspects of the community.

His 16-year career in elected public service began when he was elected Councillor in the District of Central Saanich (2008, 2011). Prior to that Adam worked for two decades in the service and communications sectors where he gained valuable experience in building relationships, connecting people, problems, ideas and solutions.

Born in Victoria, BC, Adam has lived, worked and played his entire life on the Saanich Peninsula. He is a member of Tsartlip First Nation (W̱JOȽEȽP), where he and his wife, Emily, are raising their two children, Silas and Ella.

Sandra is CEO of Modo Co-operative and founder of movmi, focused on designing mobility systems that integrate bikeshare, active transportation, carshare, and public transit into one seamless network.

At Modo, she is leading the co-operative’s evolution beyond carsharing into a multimodal platform—connecting shared vehicles with walking, cycling, and transit at the neighbourhood level. Her work centres on how these modes function together in real life, ensuring people can move fluidly between them without defaulting to private car ownership.

Sandra has advised cities and transit agencies globally on integrating bikeshare and shared mobility with public transit systems—from TransLink initiatives like the Shared Mobility Compass Card and RideLink to Transport for London’s regional approach to bikeshare and micromobility integration.

She is also a Director at Large with Connect the Coast, where she advocates for a AAA cycling highway on the Sunshine Coast—advancing safe, connected infrastructure that supports active transportation in smaller and underserved communities.

Her work has been recognized with the Clean50 Award, the BCBusiness Change Maker Award, and the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award.

Nick Armstrong is the Supervisor of Transportation Operations for the City of Victoria. He leads and supports transportation data collection and traffic signal modernization programs, with a focus on improving roadway safety, operations, and mobility. His work includes deploying emerging technologies, analyzing transportation data, and advancing smart traffic signal systems to support a safer and more efficient transportation network.

Alastair is President of the Friends of Rails to Trails - Vancouver Island Society. He was formerly Member of the Victoria Advisory Planning Commission, Councillor in the City of Victoria, Chair of Environment and Planning Advisory Committees, CRD Director, Director of the Victoria Water District, and BC Regional Transit Director for Victoria.

Eric Doherty is a semi-retired transportation planning consultant who specializes in improving community accessibility, as well as reducing climate pollution. His experience includes multiple research reports on HandyDART (paratransit) and other forms of transportation for people with disabilities. His education includes a MA from the School of Community and Regional Planning at UBC, and he is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) and a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP). Jay Douillard is a Senior Transportation Planner with the Capital Regional District in Victoria BC. His work focuses on building regional collaboration and using evidence-based planning to improve mobility.

Grant Ngieng, P.Eng., is a Partner and Manager of Municipal Transportation with ISL Engineering. With nearly 20 years of experience, Grant specializes in active transportation, complete streets, and multimodal corridor design. His work has included protected cycling facilities, transit improvements, and complex urban designs that balance the needs of cyclists, pedestrians, transit users, and motorists. Grant served as the Engineer of Record for the East Sixth Avenue project.

Farinaz brings an interdisciplinary background in urban planning and design and environmental gerontology, with a focus on the connections between the built environment, health, and social equity. With over eight years of professional experience, her work spans both academia and community-based practice, where she has led and contributed to projects focused on urban accessibility, aging in place, and inclusive mobility. 

Dave is a Victoria City Councillor, and Director on the Boards of the Capital Regional District, the Capital Region Housing Corporation, and the Capital Regional Hospital District. Dave uses the full range of Victoria’s transportation hierarchy as a pedestrian, a cyclist, a transit user and a car owner. He owns a small business and specializes in organizational governance and public policy research. Dave has practised law in Ontario and BC, worked for government and non-profits and co-founded a firm that serves Indigenous communities across Canada. Dave is a community volunteer and has served on the boards of directors of several charities and non-profits and a couple of businesses. Prior to his election to City Council, he was Director, Treasurer and Vice President of the Fairfield Gonzales Community Association, a member of its Community Association Land Use Committee (CALUC) and Chair of its Neighbourhood Improvement Committee.
