Optional walking and bike/scooter tours are part of the AT Summit program. Reserve a spot during registration—space is limited.

  • All tours depart from the Victoria Conference Centre.

  • Walking tour participants should expect to walk for up to 90 mins with occasional stops.

  • Bike/scooter tour participants will be on the go for between 1 and 3 hours with occasional stops.

The Uninterrupted Walk

3.5km walking tour • Led by Yuval Fogelson (YF City)

A tour of approximately 90 minutes, beginning with a Victoria Harbour Ferry ride from Causeway Floats opposite the Empress Hotel. From West Bay in Esquimalt, the tour follows the Songhees Walkway to the Johnson Street Bridge, and ends at The Sticky Wicket Bar & Restaurant.

Building Regional Connections through Data: Collaborative AT Data in the Capital Regional District

6.5-7km bike/scooter tour • Led by Nick Armstrong (City of Victoria), Jay Douillard (Capital Regional District), Kara Martin (Eco-Counter)

Staff from the CRD, the City of Victoria and Eco-Counter will lead participants on an exploration of various AT facilities with counters in the two jurisdictions.

The session will offer insight into how collaborative continuous data collection informs infrastructure investment, design, and installation. Attendees will have the chance to see on-the-ground counters perform in real-time and the design details to support their success. At points in the tour, discussion will focus on how open data and shared protocols help municipalities align goals, track regional trends, and communicate the impact of active transportation initiatives.

Participants will leave with practical insights into how collaborative data strategies can strengthen regional multimodal networks and accelerate the shift toward active mobility.

Major Street Makeovers: Shelbourne and Sinclair

Approx 25km bike tour • Led by Kathleen Gallagher and Troy McKay (District of Saanich)

This tour will explore two completed street transformation projects in Saanich: the Shelbourne Street Improvements Project and the Sinclair Road upgrades. Together, these corridors provide an opportunity to examine how major streets can be reconfigured to better support walking, cycling, transit, and vehicle movement, and how different design approaches perform once fully built and in operation.

Participants will experience both corridors from a cyclist’s perspective, observing how design decisions translate into real world conditions and discussing the successes, challenges, and trade offs inherent in large scale street renewal projects.
The tour requires participants to cycle from downtown Victoria to Sinclair Road and back, for a total distance of up to 25 km round trip. Portions of the ride may use non protected cycling facilities and shared roadways. This tour is best suited to confident riders who are comfortable cycling in a range of on street conditions.
