BC Bike Valet 2025 Final Report

For the second consecutive year, in 2025 the BC Cycling Coalition administered the BC Bike Valet Grant Program on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, to support communities across BC with the development and delivery of bicycle valets.

2025 Highlights

  • 14 communities received funding of 20 applicants, or 70%  (2024: 41%)

  • $284,000 in grants were awarded of $419,000 requested, or 68%  (2024: 37%)

  • Average grant size: $20,300  (2024: $18,600)

  • 69,408 bikes parked in 14 communities, or 4,958 per community  (2024 avg: 1,836)

  • 76% of users said their bike trip replaced a motor vehicle trip on the day of bike valet use

  • 888,422 VKTs offset  (2024: 258,560)

  • 222.1 GHGs offset  (2024: 64.6)

  • $24.3 million worth of bikes protected from theft 

As a complement to the 2025 BCBV grant program, BCCC developed the BC Bike Valet Toolkit, a set of information and operational templates to aid grantees in the management and delivery of bike valet services, including costing structures and standard operating procedures for the three primary bike valet models in the province (volunteer-led event valets, staffed event valets, and staffed, fixed location valets).
