Hosted by the BC Cycling Coalition, with support from local partner Capital Bike, as well as BEST Mobility and HUB Cycling, the AT Summit will once again convene people working across BC’s transportation and clean energy sectors — including advocates, elected officials, policymakers, key contributors, and influencers from across academia, industry, government, and the non-profit sector — for relationship-building, information exchange and collaborations.
“People come from all across the province to socialize and connect, but more importantly to learn from one another about some of the very transformative and actionable solutions that are helping out communities embrace zero or low emission transportation modes,” said Peter Ladner, Board chair of the BC Cycling Coalition. “Our partners and members are very focused on the ideas, policies, and programs that can lead to transportation system transformation.”
The three-day conference will include a variety of discussion and presentation formats aimed at decision-makers, educators, engineers, funders, planners, program developers, researchers, service providers, and supporters working in and around active transportation. Formats will include workshops, plenary presentations, discussion panels, design labs, action labs, and hackathons, all led by experienced AT practitioners currently building and implementing actionable solutions across BC.
According to Ladner, over conference delegates are expected to come to Victoria for the Summit, to listen to up to 50 speakers address best practices in reducing road transportation emissions in urban, suburban, and rural communities across B.C.
“Some are communities are doing really well. Some have the right people at the table but don’t know how to begin. And some advocates will join us for the first time and meet some really smart people who can help them get AT going in their community. The Summit is the place for all that.”
