2025 Active Transportation Grants awarded to 53 B.C. Communities
In March, MoTT announced the 2025 recipients of its Active Transportation Grants Program - which will provide matching funds to support 53 active transportation infrastructure projects in B.C. communities. Nine additional awards were made to support the development of active transportation network plans - which are a prerequisite for localities wishing to leverage provincial funds for future infrastructure projects.
In total, both types of grants will enable $174m in total project investment. 68% of funded projects and plans will benefit small, rural, or indigenous communities.
For details about the funded projects, visit the Backgrounder dropdown in MoTT’s news release.
BC Government renews e-bike rebate program
After an enormously successful first run, the Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MoTT) has allocated $3 million in renewed support for British Columbians’ transitions to e-bikes!
With this fund, the Ministry will slightly whittle the list of applicants from last year’s intake - which is why you haven’t heard much about it.
BCCC applauds MoTT and the BC Government for continuing to invest in this important tool to incentivize more British Columbians’ switch to active transportation.
Bike Valet Services Bloom Across BC!
Image - City of Kelowna
This summer, whether you’re:
hitting the Duncan, Kamloops, Kelowna, Kimberley, Invermere or Penticton Farmers Markets
doing errands in downtown Langley on a Saturday
attending a special event in Prince George, Revelstoke, Squamish, or Victoria
doing coffee, lunch, or lobbying at the BC Legislature
shopping at Granville Island or Whistler Village
… you’ll have access to FREE bike/cargo trike/e-bike/scooter parking, thanks to the BC Bike Valet Grant Program, supported by MoTT.
BCCC is thrilled to be resourcing these communities as they launch new services or expand the service hours or offerings of existing valets in these communities. Part of this effort involves building a new website where anyone who wishes to start a bike valet service in their community will find easy to download and use materials to support their planning and operations. Our members will be first to know when the site launches!

Help Us Keep Our Balance Bike Camps Rolling This Summer!
This summer, 200+ young kids are counting on our balance bike camps to learn how to ride, build confidence, and have fun outdoors. We've partnered with 7 community centers, but due to major funding cuts, these camps are at serious risk of being cancelled.
We've only secured $6000 of the $30,000 needed to hire great instructors to staff these camps and help induce a lifelong love of cycling in these littlest of British Columbians. You want to help, right??
With your support, we can still make it happen!

Tis the Season for Bike and Scootershare!

The Evolve Bike Share program in Nanaimo, operated by BCAA, is expanding its services and introducing e-scooters. Since its launch in 2024 until the end of that year, over 2,000 unique riders completed trips. The program was launched with almost 100 e-bikes available across 16 stations. Evolve is adding 26 new bike stations and will roll out e-scooters by mid-June. BCAA fully funds the program, however, the program relies on user fees to sustain operations.
LimeGliders Debut in Seattle

Following a pilot release last year, Lime has launched LimeGliders in Seattle. These are seated electric scooters that resemble an e-bike. Lime is adding up to 3,000 Gliders to its local fleet, alongside its 4,000 e-bikes and 7,000 stand-up scooters. Seattle saw 6 million Lime rides last year and 2 million so far in 2025. The seated scooters can be checked out through the same interface found on users’ Lime apps, at an undocking fee of $1 and .47 per minute. Regular users have the option to purchase a monthly pass with a 280-minute limit at nearly 70% discount of $43.99.
