Priorities for 2027 MVA Amendment—Member Survey

The Background

When B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) considers potential changes to the Motor Vehicle Act, they often provide advocacy organizations like BCCC the opportunity to participate—by reviewing amendments under consideration and providing feedback.

In 2024, the BCCC participated with HUB Cycling and other stakeholder organizations in developing Modernizing the BC Motor Vehicle Act , a paper with 25 recommendations that was submitted to MOTT for consideration. Part of our work was to rank the recommendations according to a scoring system that suggests the potential for each one to:

  • Protect vulnerable road users

  • Encourage more cycling

  • Improve equity
