Applications for the Board of Directors of the BC Cycling Coalition

The following candidates applied to join the Board of Directors of the BC Cycling Coalition, and will be subject to a voting resolution at the Annual General Meeting on April 9th, 2026 (register for the AGM here).

 
 

Douglas Baer

Resides: Saanich

“I am dedicated to improving the lives of cyclists & the safety of the roads they travel on. I want to make cycling feasible for others where poor traffic laws & infrastructure constrain or prevent this.”

Background

Various voluntary organizations, including role as president/chair: Confederation of University Faculty Associations of B.C. (past President), my local community association (President), former Capital Bike director, former President, Canadian Sociological Association. Studied voluntary association in cross-national comparative perspective. Taught & continues to teach social science statistics (Canada & internationally). Uses his family car <1k km/year. E-bike mileage: >5k km/year.


Moe Nadeau

Resides: Nelson

“I am motivated to support BCCC in expanding equitable access to cycling across BC. My work centers rural, community-led, and inclusive approaches to cycling. I bring hands-on experience building programs, routes, and partnerships, and I am eager to contribute to a developing a strong provincial cycling network.”

Background

Moe Nadeau is a planner and community builder based in the West Kootenay region. Through Moe Nadeau Consulting and Building Momentum Bikepacking (BMB), she advances inclusive and equity driven, community-led cycling initiatives. She has bikepacked from Banff to Mexico and created the West Kootenay Bikepacking Route Network for BIKEPACKING.com, which was recognized internationally as Route of the Year in 2024. In 2025, her establishment of BMB won Best New Event on BIKEPACKING.com.
