The 2019 BC Active Transportation Summit took place at the Anvil Centre in New Westminster, BC on June 17th & 18th.

The conference brought together planners, engineers, and experts from local and provincial governments, industry, nonprofits, and academia to explore how to make active transportation for pedestrians, disabled people, and cyclists an essential part of all communities across British Columbia.

The Province of British Columbia's new Active Transportation Strategy was released in conjunction with the Summit on June 17th. For many years, a Provincial AT Strategy had been a major goal for many cycling advocates and organizations, including the BC Cycling Coalition.

The 2019 BC Active Transportation Summit included a keynote address by the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, and also featured the release of a technical policy document, the Provincial Active Transportation Design Guide.
