Join the Adventure: Kids on Wheels - Balance Bike Instructor
Are you passionate about empowering the next generation through active learning and outdoor exploration? Kids on Wheels, an engaging initiative by the British Columbia Cycling Coalition, is seeking dynamic individuals to join our team as Balance Bike Instructors for our innovative program catered to children aged 2-5. Be a part of our weekly Summer Camps around Vancover.
Position Overview:
Job Type: Contract position
Dates: June - August, 30 hours per week
Compensation: $17.00 to $20.00 per hour (experience-dependent)
Positions Available: 2
Camp Schedule: Monday to Friday for 9 weeks, with occasional weekend events
Locations: Various community centers and daycares in East Vancouver, Kitsilano/Point Grey, North Vancouver, and UBC area
Responsibilities:
Deliver Kids on Wheels (KoW) balance bike education and safety programs following the KoW curriculum.
Ensure the safety of camp participants and maintain open communication with parents.
Set up interactive biking courses tailored to the needs and progress of each group.
Fit and adjust bikes and helmets for children when necessary.
Facilitate engaging activities such as reading, art, games, and balance bike skill sessions.
Assist in the setup and teardown of biking courses and activities.
Skills and Experience:
Relevant experience working with young children.
Enthusiastic and comfortable engaging with kids and parents through various activities.
Ability to follow a lesson plan while remaining flexible to cater to individual needs.
Organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Reliable, responsible, and capable of collaborative teamwork.
Additional Requirements:
Driver's license is considered an asset.
BC criminal record check may be required.
Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Passion for cycling or basic knowledge of bikes.
Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
Eligibility:
This is a Canada Summer Job position. To qualify:
Be between 15 and 30 years old.
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Have a valid Social Insurance Number and legal entitlement to work in Canada.
