Municipal politics matters.We are on the cusp of 2023, facing climate, political, and economic emergencies at an increasing pace. We know that change is needed. We need to be mobile, flexible and resilient in order to build a sustainable future for our communities. We need options for getting around that don’t rely on fossil fuels. We need action…but we need that action now, not later. So, what can you do? Vote on October 15th in your local municipal election. Vote for a candidates who have committed to: Support and understand the need to shift away from personal vehicle use and toward active transportation and transit to reduce congestion and fight climate change; Support infrastructure projects that separate people on bikes from people travelling on foot and by car to improve safety for all road users; Support the piloting and expansion of bike share and e-bike rebate programs; Prioritize the creation of active transportation infrastructure in neighbourhoods, towns and communities that have historically seen less investment; and Create real housing options through land-use policy and zoning towards the creation of healthy and livable cities.
